"We call on all Israelis and Palestinians to exercise maximum restraint and to prevent the situation from worsening further. Overnight, a Palestinian teenager was killed by Israeli forces in the north West Bank bringing to seven, the number of Palestinians killed in the West Bank, including three teenagers, since the 12th of June. Our condolences go to all their families. Also last night, six Palestinians were injured by Israeli forces in the West Bank."

The Office of the High Commissioner has also noticed an increase in rocket fire from the Gaza strip and air and sea strikes by Israeli forces in Gaza, additional movement restrictions and incidence of settler violence in the West Bank. We reiterate our call for strict adherence to international law by all relevant actors to avoid further loss of life, injuries and negative impact on human rights. We urge all parties to refrain from punishing individuals for offences they have not personally committed, or by imposing collective punishment."

Storyline

The United Nations (UN) human rights office today (1 July) extended condolences to the families of three Israeli teenagers, whose bodies were found on Monday and to to the families of seven Palestinians including three teenagers killed in the West Bank.

In a statement at a news conference, human rights spokeswoman, Ravina Shamdasani said the UN Human Rights body called on all Israelis and Palestinians to exercise restraint to prevent a further deterioration of the situation.

She spoke of the killing of a Palestinian teenager and injury of six Palestinians by Israeli forces night before.

The High Commissioner's Office had also noticed an increase in rocket fire from the Gaza strip, air and sea strikes from by Israeli forces in Gaza, movement restrictions and incidence of settler violence in the West Bank.

The Human Rights Office called for strict adherence to international law to avoid further loss of life and injures.

It urged all parties to refrain from punishing individuals for offences they personally had not committed and to refrain from collective punishment.
