“In response to the statement made by the deputy minister of defense of the Russian federation, accusing Ukraine of nine instances of shelling the Russian territory, we state that neither the armed forces, nor other legitimate military authorities of Ukraine are responsible for these attacks. Addressing the press today in New York, the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the United Nations Yuriy Sergeyev urged the international community to apply “maximum political pressure” on Russia to withdraw the “Russian ethnic terrorists from Ukraine” so that international experts get full access to the crash site of the Malaysian airliner MH17.
Sergeyev said that Ukrainian government posses “conclusive evidence” that the airliner was downed by the missile fired by the separatists in eastern Ukraine. He said that both the weapon and the crew were supplied by Russia.
Ukrainian ambassador said Kiev is backing these claims by “intelligence information, intercepted telephone conversations of the terrorists and satellite pictures.”
Sergeyev also accused Russia of mounting across-border artillery attacks on Ukrainian territory. He said the satellite pictures taken by “the countries that have satellite facilities” between Wednesday and Saturday last week “indicate fire from multiple racket launchers inside Russia and targets the infrastructure inside Ukraine.”
Responding to the statement made by the Russian deputy defense minister accusing Ukraine of nine instances of shelling the Russian territory, Ukrainian ambassador said that “neither the armed forces, nor other legitimate military authorities of Ukraine are responsible for these attacks.”
He suggested that such attacks are "usually undertaken by the terrorists" in a bid to draw Russian military into confrontation with Ukrainian security forces.
