“When you are deployed back to your units, you have to teach the colleagues in your units what you have learnt here. You have been blessed with the kind of training the AU/EU team has given you. The enemy does not have this kind of training, so you have to be proud of yourselves.”

At the graduation ceremony that have concluded training for 250 Somali soldiers and was provided by the African Union Mission to Somalia (AMISOM) together with the European Union, the AMISOM Force Commander urged the Somali soldiers to “make a difference” and lead by example.
Lt. Gen. Silas Ntigurirwa, AMISOM Force Commander re-affirmed the commitment of the mission to building the capacity of the Somali National Army.
Speaking after the ceremony, the commander of the EU training team in Somalia Brig. Gen. Massimo Mingiardi noted that a well-trained and professional army is at the core of stability in any country.

The Force Commander Lt. Gen Silas Ntigurirwa added that AMISOM troops will continue working with the SNA in different operations as part of the mentorship and training program. He challenged the trainees to be exemplary to their colleagues and to strive to protect the sovereignty of their country.

The Chief of support and supply in the Somali National Army Lt. Gen. Abdulkadir Moalim Nor challenged the trainees to utilize the skills they acquired and ensure that they put them to good use.
