““The Chinese people of this generation have lived through the era of hunger. We have a bitter memory of hunger and we fully understand the suffering of people who are still hungry. An ancient Chinese philosophy is that we will never do unto others things that we do not want to do unto ourselves, so we want to see hunger and poverty being eliminated around the world. We will provide technologies and experiences with no reservation to the peoples that are still struggling with hunger. Here, I wish to announce that in order to further strengthen cooperation with FAO, in particular South-South cooperation within FAO framework, the Chinese government will donate 50 million USD to the FAO in the next 5 years for carrying out South-South cooperation agriculture. And we will also increase support to WFP and IFAD.”
