Press Conference by the Coalition for the International Criminal Court (ICC) on the 13th Session of the Assembly of States Parties to the Rome Statute

The Coalition for the International Criminal Court (ICC) is a network of 2,500 NGOs in 150 countries advocating for a fair, effective and independent ICC and improved access to justice for victims of grave crimes. It is specifically calling for enhanced cooperation with courts in its decisions and the development of strong mechanisms to deal with instances of non-compliance. The panel spoke about: the dangers of a budget proposal that would set the budget envelope one year in advance, proposed bilateral agreements with NGOs, reforms in regards to victims’ treatment, the situation in Kenya, charges against Bosco Ntaganda and Laurent Gbagbo and geographic and gender representation.
