Storyline

Responding to the allegations that the Saudi-led coalition bombed a hospital in Yemen, the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations told reporters "the Arab coalition's aircraft did not attack the hospital."

The humanitarian organization Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) — Doctors Without Borders stated earlier today that several airstrikes carried out by the Saudi-led coalition struck its facility in Saada Province at around 22:30 hours on Monday (27 Oct).

Addressing the reporters after an Aria-formula meeting of the Security Council on the humanitarian situation in Yemen, the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations Abdallah Al-Mouallimi said “the Arab coalition aircrafts did not carry out operations in Saada at the time of the reported incident. The nearest area of operations was close to the Saudi-Yemeni border about 40 kilometres north of above mentioned hospital.”

Al-Mouallimi also said that MSF “has provided the coalition forces the exact coordinates of the hospital” and that the coalition had put those coordinates “within the forbidden targets.”

Therefore he said, “This hospital could not have been targeted by the coalition forces.”

According to the MSF, the staff and patients of the hospital have managed to escape before the attack so no casualties have been reported.
