Storyline

The United Nations Secretary-General paid today (06 Dec) tribute to the victims of last month’s terror attacks in Paris and laid flowers outside the Bataclan concert hall, where 89 people were killed by gunmen.

Ban Ki-moon, who is in Paris while the United Nations climate change conference (COP21) is underway, was accompanied by the city Mayor Anne Hidalgo, and together they placed offerings at the site of the 13 November attacks.

The two later visited the Cafe Bonne Biere, also one of the 7 sites attacked by Islamists affiliated to Islamic State, where five people were killed. The cafe has since reopened.

Talking to the owners, Ban said “life continues. The United Nations and the people of the world are with the people of France and the People of Paris in this difficult moment.”
