Syrian ambassador to the UN Bashar Ja'afari said “there is no shortage of humanitarian assistance in Madaya.”

Speaking to reporters in New York today (11 Jan) on the humanitarian situation in the town of Madaya, where a UN humanitarian convoy arrived Monday with life-saving and food supplies, Ja'afari said, “We would like to highlight that the humanitarian assistance sent to Madaya in mid-October 2015 was sufficient for more than two months and this testimony was corroborated by the representative of the ICRC in Syria a few days ago.”

Asked if the reports of deaths and pictures of starving people were fabrications, the Syrian diplomat answered, “Yes, indeed. And the main responsible for these fabrications is your own channel Al-Jazeera and Al-Arabiya.”

He underlined those allegations were lies.
