8. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Bashar Ja’afari, Permanent Representative of the Syrian Arab Republic to the United Nations:
“Good afternoon to you all, the round of talks that we have just had with my colleagues and the delegation of the Government of the Syrian Arab Republic with the Special Envoy was useful, the round focused on a paper on the fundamental principles for a political solution for the crisis in Syria that we submitted to the Special Envoy. The paper aims at facilitating political solution in Syria and this paper was submitted to the facilitator in our last meeting. We believe that the adoption of these principles that we have called ‘fundamental elements’ will led into serious intra-Syrian dialog to help build the future of our country. The adoption of these principles will pave the way for a serious dialogue, an intra-Syrian Syrian led dialogue without any foreign intervention and without preconditions."
