The Syrian government delegation led by Ambassador Bashar Ja'afari arrived today for their first meeting in the latest round of intra-Syrian talks in Geneva.
After the meeting with UN Special Envoy for Syria, Staffan de Mistura, Jaafari told reporters “we held a session of dialogue and talks with the Special Envoy that I can say was constructive and fruitful”.
He added in “we discussed with the Special Envoy Mr. de Mistura his paper on the fundamental principles for a peaceful solution to the crisis in Syria,”
Ja’afari noted that his delegation had proposed amendments to this text.
Ambassador Ja’afari told the media that “we agreed with Mister de Mistura that we will once again discuss the proposed amendment to this text the next time we will meet and that will be on Monday at 11 am”.
