7677th Security Council Meeting: Situation in Central African Republic
7677th meeting.
The Security Council today extended until 31 July the mandate of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA), determining that the situation in that country constitutes a threat to international peace and security.
Unanimously adopting resolution 2281 (2016), the 15-member Council authorized the Mission to take all necessary means to carry out its mandate within its capabilities and areas of deployment.
By terms of the resolution, the Council requested that the Secretary-General conduct a strategic review of MINUSCA to ensure the proper configuration and adaptation of its future mandate to a post-transition stabilization environment.
The meeting began at 10:02 a.m. and ended at 10:03 a.m.
