Storyline

The Under-Secretary-General (USG) in charge of the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO), Hervé Ladsous, arrived in Juba South Sudan today (10 June) and will stay in the country through the weekend.

Ladsous is expected to assess the situation following the formation of the Transitional Government of National Unity and to demonstrate the continued commitment of the United Nations and United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) to support South Sudan.

During his stay he will meet with government officials and also be travelling to Bentiu and Malakal to the protection of civilians sites and interact with peacekeepers.
