1. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Zade Dirani, Jordanian pianist and composer:
“I am very happy and proud to be with you as part of the UNIEF family. For me, since I began my career in music, I had a firm conviction in supporting children because if we want our region, or even in the whole world, if you dream of peace to come, you start with the young generation. You instil in them the seeds of love, diversity, peace, and working together.”

Storyline

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) appointed Jordanian pianist and composer Zade Dirani regional ambassador for the Middle East and North Africa with a special focus on advocating for the most marginalised children especially those caught in conflict, violence and poverty.

Dirani said he was proud to part of the UNICEF family and hoped to work with the organization to come up with innovative projects to bring joy to the children of the region through music. He said for peace to come in the region and the world, one must start with the youth and “instil in them the seeds of love, diversity, peace, and working together.”

Dirani is the founder of the “Zade Foundation for International Peace and Understanding,” and known for his work to help young musicians promote peace and cultural understanding. He had released several billboard charting albums, and performed around the world, including by invitation of the Jordanian Royal Family. He has also performed for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, the Dalai Lama and the late Nelson Mandela.
