United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon called on the governments of India and Pakistan to exercise “maximum restraint” as tensions rise between the countries.
Media reports indicated that the Indian military conducted a strike across the line of control between India and Pakistan in Kashmir amid conflicting reports on the intended target.
Speaking to journalists today (30 Sep) UN spokesperson, Stéphane Dujarric said the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) was aware of the reports of “presumed cease fire violations” and was liaising with the concerned authorities to obtain further information. He said UNMOGIP had not “directly observed” any firing across the line of control.
