“What we are hearing from Iran is that they are said being nice, and we have no intention of attacking another country. I will tell the people across the world that is something we should be alarmed about. The United States is not naïve, we are not going to stand by, you will see us call them out as we said we would and you are also going to see us act accordingly. We are committed to making sure that they understand this is not anything we will ever accept. We are also gonna go through with making sure that the prohibitions that we have talked about that no country should be supplying Iran with any of the technology allowing them to do this. So this is what we have brought forward in the Security Council. You will continue to see the United States act accordingly. We have said with this administration that we are not going to show a blind eye to these things that happen, we’re gonna act, we’re gonna be strong, we’re gonna be loud and we’re gonna do whatever it takes to protect the American people and the people across the world, because that’s what the goal is supposed to be.”

Speaking to reporters after a Security Council closed-doors emergency meeting on Iran’s missile testing, US Ambassador said “United States is not naïve, we are not going to stand by” and “we’re going to do whatever it takes to protect the American people and the people across the world.”

The United Nations (UN) Security Council met in closed consultation today (31 Jan) after news broke out that Iran has conducted a ballistic missile test.

Following the meeting, the Permanent Representative of the United States to the UN Nikki Haley told media “I will tell the people across the world that is something we should be alarmed about.”

Haley said “the United States is not naïve, we are not going to stand by, you will see us call them out as we said we would and you are also going to see us act accordingly” and that “we are committed to making sure that they understand this is not anything we will ever accept. We are also gonna go through with making sure that the prohibitions that we have talked about that no country should be supplying Iran with any of the technology allowing them to do this.”

The US Ambassador underlined that “we are not going to show a blind eye to these things that happen, we’re gonna act, we’re gonna be strong, we’re gonna be loud and we’re gonna do whatever it takes to protect the American people and the people across the world.”

In July 2015, the Security Council adopted resolution 2231 lifting UN economic sanctions to Iran in exchange of scraping Iran’s nuclear programme.
