Storyline

During his visit to the Central African Republic, UN General Assembly President Peter Thomson visited seven peacekeepers wounded in an attack Tuesday in the east of the country.

Four blue helmets were killed and ten wounded when armed men ambushed their convoy near the village of Yogofongo, located near the border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

Seven wounded soldiers from Morocco and Cambodia were evacuated to the capital, Bangui, while one peacekeeper from Morocco is still missing.

Thomson arrived in the Central African Republic Wednesday (10 May) for a two-days visit.

During his visit to hospital, he was accompanied by senior officials of the Central African Republic, including the president of the National Assembly and the Prime Minister, along with Parfait Onanga-Anyanga , the Head of the UN Mission.
