As conflict and hunger in South Sudan force more people to flee to Uganda, Ugandans are opening up their homes to refugees. In the Yumbe district, close to Bidibidi refugee settlement, a 70-year-old Ugandan grandmother has given part of her land to a family of South Sudanese refugees.
This 70-year-old grandmother from Uganda gave part of her land to a refugee family from South Sudan.
SOUNDBITE (Aringa) Medina Noah, Ugandan Farmer:
“I gave them this land out of kindness. When the crops yield they will be able to harvest them and have food. I have faith that they will.”
The refugees and grandmother Medina work the land together every day. They say her generosity has changed their lives.
