6. SOUNDBITE (French) Jean-Pierre Lacroix, Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations:
"I think I can say that the United Nations is a true friend of the Congolese people. We exchanged views on how to continue this support, how to ensure that MONUSCO can be useful on all these issues. I also mentioned the concern about the violations of human rights that were committed, particularly in Kasai. The people have suffered and we have agreed that the importance of combatting impunity, the importance that the perpetrators of human rights violations, wherever they come from, should be brought to justice. We agreed that this was an extremely important element. We also agreed that the importance of all those responsible for the assassination of our two colleagues, the experts, be brought to justice."

9. SOUNDBITE (French) Jean-Pierre Lacroix, Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations:
“We have discussed the assassination of the United Nations experts. The goal is that those who are responsible are brought to justice. We must work with the Congolese judicial authorities; the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s judicial authorities play an essential role. Once again, it’s very important for us, for the United Nations that those responsible should be brought to justice. It is a major objective for us because two of our colleagues have fallen, and I believe and I also speak on behalf of the countries where these experts come from, the United States from Sweden, Chile, and I assure you that for these countries it’s also a major priority.”
