On 20 June, World Refugee Day, the High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, travelled to the Nguenyyiel Refugee Camp in Ethiopia to honour the resilience and courage of the more than 65 million people worldwide who have been forced to flee war, persecution and violence.
Ethiopia hosts almost 800,000 refugees from over 20 countries.
Nguenyyiel Refugee Camp was opened on October 2016 to receive South Sudanese refugees who crossed into Ethiopia.
57 percent of them are children. These school facilities are for grades 1 to 4.
The High Commissioner praised Ethiopia for its acceptance of refugees.

Ethiopia is hosting the largest group of registered refugees in Africa. It maintains an open door policy for those seeking refuge.
