With the end of fighting in Mosul in sight, the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) said it urgently needs USD 126 million to meet critical needs of vulnerable children, women and men displaced from, and returning to, Mosul, until the end of 2017.
The UN says Mosul's basic infrastructure will cost at least $1 billion to rebuild, including re-establishing water and electricity supply as well as rebuilding schools and hospitals.
More than 900,000 people have been displaced since the start of the military operation by the Iraqi security forces in October 2016 to retake Mosul from ISIL.
