“In Canada’s western Arctic, the permafrost is melting and huge pieces of tundra are eroding into the ocean. And around Baffin Island, Inuit elders are finding it difficult to forecast the weather like they used to. So difficult that many are now reluctant even to try. At home, we are working hard to help these communities adapt and prepare for the future. At the international level, our commitment is unwavering. There is no country on this planet that can walk away from the reality of climate change.”

“In my speech today, I wanted to highlight a strong issues that demonstrates that we take seriously our responsibilities of living up to the 2030 goals both internally and around the world and hope to spur a real action by everyone. As we take care of rebuilding our relationships and improving the situation for the most vulnerable and marginalized people in Canada even as we stand up for vulnerable, marginalized, disenfranchised people around the world.”

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told the United Nations General Assembly “there is no country on this planet that can walk away from the reality of climate change” and he promised Canadian “unwavering commitment” to combatting the effects of the climate change on the national and international level.
Addressing the general debate at the United Nations headquarters today (21 Sep) in New York, Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada said “inability of successive Canadian government to respect the rights of indigenous people of Canada is a great shame. And for too many indigenous people this lack of respect still persists today.”
Trudeau said “the time has come to get off the beaten path, to move away from old, outdated colonial structures and to establish new ones which will respect inherent rights of indigenous people for self-governance and self-determination” and promised that “Indigenous Peoples will decide how they wish to represent and organize themselves.”
On climate change, the Prime Minister said “there is no country on this planet that can walk away from the reality of climate change.”
He said his government is working hard to help affected Canadian communities to “adapt and prepare for the future” while” at the international level, our commitment is unwavering.”
Talking to the press following his speech at the General Assembly, the Canadian leader said the aim of his speech was to “highlight a strong issues that demonstrates that we take seriously our responsibilities of living up to the 2030 goals both internally and around the world and hope to spur a real action by everyone.”
Trudeau also told reporters “as we take care of rebuilding our relationships and improving the situation for the most vulnerable and marginalized people in Canada even as we stand up for vulnerable, marginalized, disenfranchised people around the world.”
