African Connections: ECA at 25
To bridge the gap between insufficiency and plenty, Africans recognize that greater economic and social co-operation is an essential key. The Economic Commission for Africa, or ECA, established by the United Nations in 1958, has played a central role in sowing the seeds of this international co-operative effort, enhancing Africa's development over the past quarter century.
"African Connections - ECAat 25" shows the Commission's work against a backdrop of different countries and cultures. Ranging from the modernity of the capital cities, Dakar and Nairobi, to rural locales in Niger and Ethiopia, Kenya, and Senegal, the film points up the problems and progress of present day Africa and the connecting role of ECA helping to bring about a better life and greater opportunity for all Africans.
