End of an Era
The Lisbon Session of the UN Special Committee on Decolonization in June 1975 marked an historical turning point. After nearly fifteen years of confrontation, the Committee and the Portuguese Government had found common ground in the issue of decolonization
In the context of this historic session, the film "END OF AN ERA" highlights the struggle for freedom in the Portuguese territories of Africa, the change of government in Portugal and the eventual triumph of the liberation movements.
The Committee still has "unfinished business" in Southern Africa, namely the question of Southern Rhodesia and Namibia. The film briefly describes the current situation in these two areas and the international committee's determination to solve this question.
