“Queridos amigos y amigas de todo el mundo. Feliz Año Nuevo. Cuando asumí el cargo, hace un año, hice un llamamiento para que 2017 fuera un año de paz. Lamentablemente, el mundo ha retrocedido en aspectos fundamentales. En este Día de Año Nuevo de 2018, no quisiera hacer ningún llamamiento, sino lanzar una señal de alerta: una alerta roja para nuestro mundo. Los conflictos se han agudizado y han surgido nuevos peligros. La ansiedad mundial en torno a las armas nucleares está al nivel más alto desde la Guerra Fría. “En este comienzo del año 2018, quisiera apelar a la unidad de la comunidad internacional. Tengo la firme convicción de que podemos hacer de nuestro mundo un lugar más seguro. Podemos resolver los conflictos, superar el odio y defender los valores compartidos. Pero solo podemos lograrlo si lo hacemos juntos. Insto a los dirigentes de todo el mundo a cumplir con el siguiente propósito de Año Nuevo. Reduzcamos las diferencias. Superemos las divisiones. Restablezcamos la confianza uniendo a las personas en torno a objetivos comunes. La unidad es el camino. Nuestro futuro depende de ello. Les deseo un 2018 de paz y salud. Muchas gracias.”
