After hearing briefings from Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura and the Chief of the UN’s Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF,) Lisa Doughten, the Security Council today (7 Mar) expressed concern about the humanitarian situation in Syria.

The President of the Security Council for the month of March, Karel J.G. van Oosterom of the Netherlands, said, “members of the Security Council expressed concern about the humanitarian situation and also the cessations of hostilities was discussed.”

The Security Council, he said, “reiterated its call for implementation of resolution 2401,” noting that Monday, 12 March, the Council will be briefed by Secretary-General António Guterres on the implementation of resolution 2401.
