Giandomenico Picco, United Nations Assistant Secretary-General discusses the United Nations’ recent efforts in successfully resolving many of the situations involving hostages and detainees held by various groups in the Middle East. Mr. Picco pays tribute to the governments of Iran, Syria, Lebanon and Israel for their co-operation during the long process. The United Nations, Mr. Picco says, is committed to the release of the remaining hostages and detainees.
