UN Population Fund

In its 1992 Report on the State of World Population, the United Nations Population Fund, or UNFPA, calls for action to balance population, consumption, development and yet protect the environment. Alex Marshall, Chief of the Editorial, Publications and Media Services Branch of UNFPA, highlights the importance of education and the improvement of social and economic conditions in reducing family size and curbing population explosion. UNFPA, Marshall says, works with other UN agencies on measures that slow population growth and improve the quality of life especially for women and children.
