Darmigalma loves cuddling her newborn grand-daughter Nuria.
She was born after the family fled fighting in Ethiopia and were separated in the process.

Darmigalma’s daughter, Malicha walked for two days with no food or water.
They didn’t know if they would see each other again.
Luckily, they were reunited in Kenya.

About 10,000 Ethiopian refugees have crossed into Kenya since early March.
Most are women and children.
Conditions are grim, made worse by the rainy season.
UNHCR is working with the government and aid partners to bring urgent assistance to the refugees.

The local community has also stepped in to help Halakano offered Malicha a place to stay after baby Nuria was born.
Darmigalma is grateful her family is safe, but the situation remains desperate.
Like many refugees here, they face an uncertain future
