World Chronicle 876A: Fred Eckhard, Spokesman for UN Secretary-General
"2002 YEAR IN REVIEW"
The year 2002 was a year marked by uncertainty over whether new military conflict would come to the Middle East region, as UN inspectors returned to Iraq after four years' absence to investigate the question of weapons of mass destruction. And while the world watched anxiously to see what the outcome might be in Iraq, efforts throughout the globe had to continue for the combating of terrorism, without compromising human rights, and for pursuing internationally-agreed goals of defeating poverty, ignorance and intolerance. This special edition of World Chronicle features a video summary of UN activities in 2002, as well as a question-and- answer session with the Spokesman for the UN Secretary-General, Fred Eckhard.
