IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde welcomed Argentine Treasury Minister Nicolas Dujovne to the Fund’s headquarters today (10 May) for meetings on how to best provide financial support to the South American country.

The IMF said the two had a warm and cordial greeting heading in to the meetings, the second and final day of consultations by Dujovne.

Ahead of the meetings, Lagarde said Argentina is a valued member of the International Monetary Fund and looked forward to a continuing partnership with the country. She said discussions have been initiated on how the IMF and Argentina could work together to strengthen the Argentine economy adding that these would be pursued in short order.
