Multi-Stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation
Theme: “Science, technology and innovation for sustainable and resilient societies – Focus on SDGs 6, 7, 11, 12 and 15”
As requested by the General Assembly resolution 70/1 on 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the President of ECOSOC convenes the meetings of the STI forum once a year to discuss science, technology and innovation cooperation around thematic areas for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
The 2018 STI Forum was convened by the President of ECOSOC and supported by the 10-Member Advisory Group and the UN Inter-Agency Task Team on Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) for the SDGs. It was co-Chaired by Toshiya Hoshino, Ambassador, Deputy Permanent Representative of Japan to the United Nations, and Juan Sandoval-Mendiolea, Ambassador, Deputy Permanent Representative of Mexico to the United Nations.
Programme:
- Welcome address and opening: appreciating the cross cutting nature of science, technology and innovations.
- Session 1: Impact of rapid technological change on the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
- Session 2: Interactive Dialogue with the 10 Member Group to support the Technology Facilitation Mechanism.
