World Chronicle 842: Steven Miller, DESA
POLICY NETWORK ON YOUTH EMPLOYMENT
With the world's major economies slowing down and threatening the growth prospects of developing countries, the unemployment of youth - those between the ages of 15 and 24, accounting for 41 percent of the world's unemployed - is becoming a focus for United Nations concerted action. Secretary-General Kofi Annan has set up a Policy Network on Youth Employment in order to highlight positive global practices of job creation for young people and to formulate a set of recommendations on how to solve the problem of youth unemployment. In this edition of World Chronicle, Steven Miller, from the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, discusses the Secretary-General's Network on Youth Employment.
