Storyline

18 years old Numeir, is getting his flat ready in Germany. Meanwhile, his family is packing in Greece. After three years apart, the family are about to be reunited.

SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Numeir, Syrian Refugee:
“Since I left my parents everything has been really hard, as you'd expect because I'm apart from my family. The most difficult thing is the longing, I miss them so much.”

SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Ismain, Numeir’s father and Syrian Refugee:
“I am very happy, a happiness that is indescribable, I will be seeing my son after so long and after so much hardship and displacement from a country to another.”

Numeir left Syria when he was 15, as he was worried he would be conscripted into the army.

He now lives in Northern Germany with his cousins

SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Numeir, Syrian Refugee:
“I’m going to meet my family, it’s just two hours till I see them. Last night I couldn't sleep. I feel like it is the night before Eid, Before Eid I can't sleep and this is what happened to me last night.”

His parents and siblings have been living in Crete, Greece for the past two years.

But at any moment, they’ll be arriving here in Hamburg.

SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Numeir, Syrian Refugee:

The family will now live in the town of Lensahn, where they will try and integrate into the local community.
