Storyline

International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director welcomed Argentine Treasury Minister Nicolas Dujovne to the Fund’s headquarters today (4 Sep) for meetings on how to best provide financial support to the South American country.

The two had a warm and cordial greeting heading in to the meetings where they were set to discuss the implementation of economic aid to Argentina. The government of President Mauricio Macri has agreed to a set of fiscal measures designed to tame inflation and reduce the government budget deficit.

Earlier in the day, United States President Donald Trump signalled support for Macri’s handling of his countries financial troubles. He expressed confidence in President Macri’s leadership and supported his engagement with the IMF to strengthen Argentina’s monetary and fiscal policies.
