Storyline

The Secretary-General of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), Ahmad Allam-Mi, and the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Central Africa, François Louncény Fall, are visiting Bangui, Central African Republic (CAR) in support the African Initiative for Peace and Reconciliation

“The United Nations and the region are working together to implement the Khartoum agreement, and we are here to support this agreement", said François Louncény Fall, Special Representative for Central Africa and Head of the United Nations Regional Office for the Region (UNOCA), upon his arrival in Bangui.

The delegations have arrived in Bangui on April 2 for four days of official meetings.

"We are seeking a dialogue with the Central African authorities, partners and friends of the Central African Republic, with a view to implementing the agreement you know, the new Khartoum agreement", explained Ahmad Allam-Mi Secretary-General of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS).

Since their arrival in Bangui, the delegations have been received by members of the Government, representatives of the diplomatic corps, the President of the National Assembly and the Prime Minister.

"The Prime Minister has kindly given us very useful information on all the efforts that have already been undertaken. And we noted with great satisfaction that the organs are starting to take shape", said François Louncény Fall.

The Economic Community of Central African States is the guarantor of the peace agreement alongside the African Union, while the United Nations is one of the facilitators of the African Initiative for Peace and Reconciliation.
