“The time has come for the United Nations to recognize interim president Juan Guaidó as the legitimate president of Venezuela and sit his representative in this body. Today we call on the United Nations to revoke the credentials of Venezuela’s representative to the United Nations, recognize interim president Juan Guaidó, and seat the representative of the free Venezuelan government without delay. Nicolás Maduro is a dictator with no legitimate claim to power, and Nicolás Maduro must go.”

“From early in his administration, President Trump took action to isolate the Maduro regime economically and diplomatically. And we have no time table for the restoration of freedom. We are going to continue to stand firm. Going to continue to bring economic and diplomatic pressure to bear. All options are on the table. But as the president said, the economic sanctions that we brought to bear on Venezuela can be a lot tougher, and the President is prepared to take even additional action.”

“Our team here at the US Mission at the United Nations is working on a resolution that would revoke the credentials of the representative of the Maduro regime and would recognize interim president Juan Guaidó and seat his representative here. We are looking at bringing that resolution to the body in some form, but I will leave it to them to determine.”

“The President’s message is very clear. Russia and Iran have no business in Venezuela. They should step aside and allow the people of Venezuela to restore their democracy and their freedom.”

The Vice President of the United States, Mike Pence, today (10 Apr) called on the United Nations “to revoke the credentials of Venezuela’s representative to the United Nations, recognize interim president Juan Guaidó, and seat the representative of the free Venezuelan government without delay.”
Talking to journalists after addressing the Security Council, Pence said Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro “is a dictator with no legitimate claim to power, and Nicolás Maduro must go.”
Pence said, “all options are on the table” and added that “the economic sanctions that we brought to bear on Venezuela can be a lot tougher, and the President is prepared to take even additional action.”
The Vice President said the United States Mission to the United Nations “is working on a resolution that would revoke the credentials of the representative of the Maduro regime and would recognize interim president Juan Guaidó and seat his representative here.”
With regard to Iranian and Russian support to the Venezuelan government, he said, “the President’s message is very clear. Russia and Iran have no business in Venezuela. They should step aside and allow the people of Venezuela to restore their democracy and their freedom.”
