Following a second meeting of the International Support Group to Central-African Republic (CAR), the UN Under Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations ) Jean-Pierre Lacroix, African Union Commissioner for Peace and Security, Smail Chergui, Managing Director for Africa in the European External Action Service Koen Vervaeke and the CAR’s Prime Minister Firmin Ngrebada held a press conference where the Prime Minister Ngrebada said “What is left for the parties to accord to do is to continue to show the good will to keep up with commitments they made to the guarantors and to the facilitators of the process.”
The tri-party delegation is visiting CAR in a show of support to the peace accord signed in past February by the government and rebel groups.
At the press conference, African Union Commissioner for Peace and Security, Smail Chergui summed up his impressions, “I think that at the end of this day we are satisfied by the level of engagement and by the fact that all those present reiterated their support and determination to support the CAR in its efforts.”
The UN peacekeeping chief Jean-Pierre Lacroix reiterated the unified support to the CAR’s peace process. He said “partners and friends of the Central African Republic are united and determent to advance the peace accord towards a happy conclusion.”
Lacroix also called on Central-African to persevere.

During the five-day visit, the delegation met with government officials, representatives of political parties and the civil society, as well as the members of diplomatic core in the country.
