"We condemn in the strongest possible terms this aggression against our people, and we are totally against harming any innocent civilians from any side regardless of their justification, because there is no justification for harming civilians."

"What we need, we need to address the root cause of this problem, which is the blockade and the occupation. We need to put an end to this blockade. That is a crime against humanity, and as long as this crime continues, then – you know – you’ll see episodes of confrontation.”

“The Security Council does not have the political will to act to implement its resolutions for the obvious reasons that we all know. That does not mean that we will stop knocking the door in the Security Council, we will.”

Palestinian Ambassador Riyad Mansour today (06 May) condemned “in the strongest possible terms this aggression against our people” and said, “there is no justification for harming civilians."
Speaking to reporters outside the Security Council, Mansour said, “we need to address the root cause of this problem, which is the blockade and the occupation. We need to put an end to this blockade. That is a crime against humanity, and as long as this crime continues, then – you know – you’ll see episodes of confrontation.”
The Security Council, he said, “does not have the political will to act to implement its resolutions for the obvious reasons that we all know.”
Mansour said, “that does not mean that we will stop knocking the door in the Security Council, we will.”
Over the weekend, hundreds of rockets were launched from the Occupied Palestinian Territory into southern Israel, and Israel retaliated with hundreds of airstrikes and tank fire.
According to news reports, several women, children and men on both sides have been killed and injured as a result of the violence.
