In a statement read by his spokesperson UN chief António Guterres welcomed the meeting between the leaders of the United States, North Korea, and South Korea in the Korean demilitarized zone.

Speaking to reporters in New York today (01 Jul), UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said Guterres particularly welcomed the announcement that North Korea (DPRK) and the United States would “resume working level dialogue.” He said the Secretary-General fully supports “the continued efforts by the parties to establish new relations towards sustainable peace, security and completely verifiable denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.”
