Description
The Alaska oil pipeline is the largest privately financed construction project in the world today. But since the discovery of oil on the North Slope, the public awareness of environmental issues has grown dramatically. Public pressure has resulted in brand new environmental concerns on the part of the oil companies. If they can bring oil from Alaska without damaging the environment and without seriously disrupting the life of the Eskimos, a real step forward will have been taken. The lessons learned on the tundra of Alaska could be applied elsewhere, no matter what the climate.
