During the camp visit, he visited a community centre where he spoke with camp residents and visited an art gallery for refugee artists. He also visited a school where Syrian children are being integrated into the Jordanian education system.
Lowcock was also briefed by the head of the Jordanian Military Eastern Command.
While in Amman, Lowcock also met with senior Jordanian officials, the diplomatic community, local and international NGOs and UN agencies involved in the humanitarian response in Syria. Of the more than 5.6 million Syrians who have fled Syria since the crisis began in 2011, some 650,000 are in Jordan, making it the third largest host country to Syrian refugees in the world today.
