Acting UN Secretary-General U Thant leaves Idlewild airport for Cuba, aboard a Varig Airlines plane chartered by the United Nations. He plans to remain there for two or three days, during which time he will hold talks with Prime Minister Fidel Castro in an effort to resolve the present crisis in the Caribbean.
