Ahmad is a 12-year-old Syrian boy living at the Al-Tah IDP camp in Idlib Governorate. Having fled war and violence in his village just over a year ago, he and his family now face a new enemy in COVID-19.
Ahmad said he cannot go to school because of the virus.
SOUNDBITE (English) Ahmad Mustafa, displaced child:

Ahmad said he wishes he could see his friends everyday because he is getting bored in the tent which he and his family call home.

Ahmad knows little about the virus, but he knows it can kill.

“I don’t know anything about coronavirus, but I’m scared of it because it kills people, just like bombing kills them.”
Unable to attend school or play with his friends outside like before, he hopes the world finds a cure for the virus soon.

In Syria today, the risk of the COVID-19 spreading couldn't be higher. Millions of women, men and children are internally displaced and have limited or not access to healthcare.
The UN and its partners are working around the clock to mitigate the risk of COVID-19, but more resources are urgently needed.
