UN Secretary-General António Guterres welcomed the announcement of an agreement between representatives of the Venezuelan Government and the advisory team of the National Assembly of Venezuela on responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a spokesperson.

Speaking at a virtual press conference today (03 Jun), UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric said the Secretary-General encouraged the main “stakeholder to implement this agreement in accordance with the humanitarian principals of humanity, neutrality, impartiality and independence and to build on this foundation to continue seeking common ground to overcome the country's protracted crisis.”

Guterres also recognized the important role played by actors, including the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), in facilitating this agreement.
