All of these measures were implemented as recommended by WHO, by the Ministry of Health, with the entire community involved in the prevention of COVID-19.

Some of their epidemiologists were part of our teams to ensure that we can test, we can trace any contact and we can report properly those either confirmed cases or suspected people until the contrary is proven.”

“The different measures that were put in place, some actually started before we even heard of the first case of COVID-19. We started actually one year ago. We had an Ebola outbreak in our region. So, we were already prepared in a way that has helped us also to prepare indirectly to COVID response.”

Storyline

All-of-government collaboration, led by the country’s president, and adherence to WHO guidance and the fundamentals of outbreak control, from testing and contact tracing to wide use of public health measures, have been the hallmarks of Rwanda’s COVID-19 response.
