Winter for the most vulnerable and for those who were already suffering from the economic downturn, from COVID-19 and the blast in Beirut, they face more suffering in the next four months as harsh winter weather sets in. Many refugees in Lebanon are dreading the arrival of winter, while the ongoing economic crisis in the country and high inflation of 174 percent increase since October 2019 mean their money and the aid they get from UNHCR will not go as far.
Like other refugees, Huda dreads winter. The little money she has, was already spent on a heater for her home.

Single mother Siham has a different challenge this winter
SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Siham al-Jassim, Syrian refugee:

UNHCR is helping families with cash, clothes, food parcels and heating fuel.

Cash assistance will help Huda and her family stay warm this winter.

Hundreds of thousands of refugees and Lebanese will receive help in coming months, providing some respite in the tough winter season.
