"After many months, Iran has not provided the necessary explanation, and I am deeply concerned about this. So, we hope that we are going to be able to make progress. I am concerned that the technical discussion between us and Iran have not yielded what I expected by now. And I reiterated to our Iranian colleagues here and to authorities in Teheran the requirement for Iran to clarify and resolve these issues without further delay. Why? Because the lack of progress in clarifying them seriously affects our ability to provide assurance of the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear programme.”

"DPRK’s nuclear activities, of course, remain a cause for serious concern. The continuation of this is a clear violation of relevant UN Security Council resolutions and is of course deeply regrettable. So, we call upon the DPRK to comply fully with its obligations under these resolutions, to cooperate with us in the full and effective implementation of NPT Safeguards Agreement and to resolve all outstanding issues."

"The Iranian Government reiterated its will to engage and to cooperate and to provide answers, but they haven’t done that, so far. So, I hope this may change, but as we speak, we haven’t had any concrete progress on any of the issues."

The head of the United Nations nuclear watchdog today (7 Jun) expressed concern that Iran has not yet provided “the necessary explanation” on the presence of nuclear material particles at three locations, as requested by the Agency.
The Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, said, “we hope that we are going to be able to make progress. I am concerned that the technical discussion between us and Iran have not yielded what I expected by now. And I reiterated to our Iranian colleagues here and to authorities in Teheran the requirement for Iran to clarify and resolve these issues without further delay.”

On the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea’s (DPRK’s) continued nuclear activities, the Director-General said this was “a clear violation of relevant UN Security Council resolutions and is of course deeply regrettable.”
He called upon the DPRK “to comply fully with its obligations” under relevant Security Council resolutions, and to cooperate with the Agency “in the full and effective implementation of NPT Safeguards Agreement and to resolve all outstanding issues."

The Board of Governors is one of the two policy-making bodies of the IAEA, along with the annual General Conference of IAEA Member States.
The Board examines and makes recommendations to the General Conference on the IAEA's financial statements, programme, and budget. It considers applications for membership, approves safeguards agreements and the publication of the IAEA's safety standards. It also appoints the Director General of the IAEA, with the approval of the General Conference.
The Board generally meets five times per year: in March and June, twice in September (before and after the General Conference) and in November.
