On Saturday (3 Jul), the second batch of 2.5 million vaccines from the United States Government’s sharing of doses via the COVAX Facility arrive in Dhaka, Bangladesh at 8:40 am.
Earl R Miller, US Ambassador to Bangladesh and representatives from the Health Ministry, US Embassy and UNICEF receive the COVAX vaccines at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
The consignment of over COVID-19 vaccines are unloaded for transportation to the cold chain storage facility and further distribution in the country. Logistics specialists monitor the process to ensure the cold chain is preserved and the vaccines are handled safely at every step.
This marks the second and largest shipment of vaccines from the COVAX Facility received by Bangladesh and is crucial for bolstering the country’s immunisation effort of health workers, teachers, the elderly and the most vulnerable population in the face of its second wave of COVID-19 infection and peak daily cases.
