Description
Most of the work of the United Nations takes place, not in the halls of political debate or the corridors of bureaucracy, but in the rice-paddies, the dispensaries and the training schools of the developing world.
BAHASA AIRPLANE is a film about David Andrews, from Oklahoma, who was sent by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to Indonesia, to help strengthen that country’s civil aviation network. “Bahasa” in Indonesian, means, “language”, and “Bahasa Airplane” is what Indonesians increasingly must learn as the build a communications network among the 13,000 islands that form their nation.
