Threescore and Then.....

There are more elderly people in the world today than ever before and the proportion is growing. The increase will be particularly dramatic in Asia where the number of elderly people is expected to double by the year 2000. The development process which is bringing about this increase in the elderly is also affecting their position in society and undermining some of the traditional solutions to the care of the aging.
